Navigating the Maze of RtI

Maze_2 "trying to follow in the footsteps of the masters, but it's a lot harder than it looks because even though they had the same size feet as us, they weren't looking down the whole time while they walked to make sure they were doing it right"  ~ Brian Andreas

Wouldn't it be great if there were footsteps you could follow in the maze we know as the Response to Intervention (RtI) implementation process? Of course, it isn't that simple, but TEPSA has some tools that will help. Several Summer Conference presenters offered great insight on key components of the RtI implementation process.

  1. Accomplish the Goal of Differentiation: Get Focused! - Sandra Page, ASCD
Teacher Self-Reflection on Differentiation for Staff Development Planning
    Continuum of Differentiation
  2. Tiered Interventions and Technology - Mary Esther Reynosa, Northside ISD
  3. On the Road to Success with RtI and Podcasting - Traci Bond and Kim Blackburn, Keller ISD
  4. Behavior Intervention and Tier I: What Every Principal Needs to Do and What Will Keep You From Doing It - Adam Saenz, The SBS Group
  5. Differentiated Instruction…Every Day, All Year Long! - Kathy Dodge-Clay, Northside ISD
    Sample Back to School Packet
    Sample Staff Development Schedule

The National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE) just released two documents in their RtI Blueprint series. These blueprints are written as guides to the district and campus implementation process, and they're free.

TEPSA Summer Conference a Success

Making_smores_2 "In winter I get up at night and dress by yellow candle light. In summer quite the other way, I have to go to bed by day." ~Robert Louis Stevenson

Thanks for another great TEPSA Summer Conference! We are working to post handouts (if the presenter sent them) and photos now.

In the meantime, please complete the Summer Conference Evaluation.
